Mosquito Spraying Begins Tonight In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, N.J. (CBS) - Tonight, trucks will be rolling through the streets of Cherry Hill, Camden County firing the first salvo against any breeding mosquitos.
County Freeholder Jeff Nash says one case of West Nile virus was reported already this Spring and several were reported last year in the county. And he says that's prompting the county to get a jump on mosquitos before they get out of hand.
Nash says the weather conditions over the last six months were ideal for mosquito growth.
"It was a very moist winter, as we've all experienced. There was a lot of snow and that moisture accumulates. And now we've had a moist Spring," he said. "The two of them together has resulted in expanded mosquito population, so we have to be extra cautious this year."
Nash says the mosquito spraying trucks will be going out in the evening and continue through the night. He adds residents can help throughout the summer by emptying any standing water on their properties.
