Morris Arboretum Opens Holiday Garden Railway
By Phran Novelli
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Kids, trains, and holidays just seem to go together! The Morris Arboretum Holiday Garden Railway opened over the Thanksgiving weekend, and its fifteen rail lines will be choo-chooing through seven loops and over nine bridges through January 4th.
You can see it as part of your regular Morris Arboretum admission during the day. Or, you can reserve special tickets for Friday Night Lights, to enter the Arboretum after hours and see the railway aglow for the holidays.
This special event is $16 for adults, $8 for kids, or $9 for adults and $3 for children who are members - which might be an incentive to join, or give a Morris membership to a family you know as a holiday gift.
Day or night, what I love most are the miniature railroad buildings - including little landmarks like Independence Hall - all crafted of natural materials.
Look closely and collect ideas you and your kids can use to make tiny houses at home for your own train set or fairy gardens.
