Montco Apartment Complex Where Infant & Grandmother Killed Is Sued

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- The family of an infant and a grandmother who were murdered during what prosecutors say was a botched kidnapping attempt in King of Prussia last year has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia.
The lawsuit names the owners of the Marquis Apartment Complex in Upper Merion, the property management company, its security firm, and the man accused of killing ten-month-old Saanvi Venna and her grandmother.
The lawsuit suggests the owners failed to maintain adequate security on the property even though the complex has a long history of criminal activity. The suit was filed by Norristown attorney John I. McMahon Jr. on behalf of their estates.
It seeks an unspecified amount of compensatory and punitive damages.
McMahon would not comment further, citing the ongoing criminal case.
Prosecutors have said they would seek the death penalty against Raghu Yandamuri if he's convicted of first-degree murder (see related stories).
