Monsignor Bonner, Archbishop Prendergast Students React To Closure Announcement

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School in Drexel Hill are among the group of high schools recommended to close in June.
The students at Bonner Prendie were crushed to hear that the co-institutional school is on the recommendation list to close, among them, senior Patrick Walsh of Aldan. (see related story)
"I was thinking about one of my first days at Bonner. I remember thinking I can't wait to graduate here, to be apart of the legacy and knowing you are the end of the legacy it's bitter sweet. On one hand its an honor when you look back on the past and on the other hand its not that great to know its the end and other people would not be able to experience this in the future."

Deidra Council of Darby is a junior and says she will never lose contact with her friends no matter where they are for their senior year.
"I know we will still always be a family we can be physically separated but emotionally we will always be connected."
SPORTS: Catholic League To Undergo Facelift After Closings
Prendergast used to be Saint Mother Katherine Dreel's family's summer estate. Then it was left to Saint Vincent's orphanage. Next, in 1953, it became Archbishop Prendergast For Boys and in 1955 Bonner opened next door, the boys moved in and the girls went to Prendergast a year later.
