Modest Snowfall In Delaware Valley, Sun On The Way
By Steven Strouss
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Blizzard Warnings remain in effect for much of New England Saturday morning. The powerful Nor'easter continues to pound the Boston area where over three feet of snow will fall before the storm moves away later during the day.
Travel in eastern New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut and Rhode Island is nearly impossible where over 20 inches has buried the neighborhoods. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power up north and many are stranded at area airports waiting for flights that may not take off for days.
Closer to home, we are cleaning up from just a few inches in the Philadelphia area.
As expected, we did not receive the crippling amounts of snow but many untreated roads are slippery so give yourself some extra time as you head out today.
Here are some snow totals across the Delaware Valley:
Wynnewood PA 1.9", Somerton PA 4.7", Bensalem PA 3.5", Atlantic City NJ .8", Ewing NJ 5.0", Wilmington DE .1", Bethlehem PA 4.0", Stroudsburg PA 6.0", Lumberton NJ 4.0"
If you are shoveling modest amounts of snow, you will also have to contend with the gusty winds today.
Bitter wind chills are expected as winds gust to 40 mph, sending wind chills as low as 10 to 20 degrees.
The good news is that sunshine will return to the region this weekend as high pressure settles in.
Milder air will also return by Monday but along with milder temperatures also comes the chance for rain early next week.
