Misspelled Sign May Have Cost NJ Principal Her Job
PATTERSON, N.J. (CBS) - A high school principal has lost her job, and the reason may be because of a sign outside the school with several errors.
At the entryway of Public School Number 20 in Patterson, New Jersey was a sign with two misspelled words and one backward number.
It took more than a week for anyone to notice the glaring mistakes, or to speak up then fix them. A picture of the error-filled sign was posted to Facebook.
"How are you going to teach the kids when you can't even spell simple month 'December'?" asks Betty Mack.
"I would assume because this is urban district, in an inner city, that things like this could just be, you know, swept over," adds parent Jamaal McCubbin.
The principal of the school was demoted to vice principal and reassigned. The district will not confirm the misspellings were the reason for the change.
