Missing Rideshare Driver Eleanor Camacho Found Dead Inside Her Car In Allentown
ALLENTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A family is grieving after a rideshare driver from Lehigh County was found dead Sunday in her vehicle in Allentown. The discovery happened days after police reported the driver missing, but law enforcement has not yet announced if the death is suspicious.
"It's pretty scary not knowing how it happened," said Katie Hutchinson of Salisbury Township.
Eleanor Camacho, 58, was last seen leaving her home at the Cedar Glen Apartments in Salisbury Township on Thursday. She was reportedly going to pick up a passenger for Uber or Lyft.
Days went by before Allentown Police say her body was found in her 2015 silver Buick SUV at Lumber and Turner Streets on Sunday afternoon.
Neighbors are stunned.
"Really sad," Noemi Ocasio said.
"I have three kids and my 16-year-old often takes Uber," Hutchinson said.
For now, law enforcement is being tight-lipped over what led up to Camacho's death.
Police have not yet said whether or not the death was suspicious or if the area could be in any kind of danger.
We also don't know if a rideshare passenger ever got into Camacho's vehicle Thursday. And with so many unanswered questions, neighbors are worried.
"We live in an area that's not safe, you know," one person said.
Meantime, Uber and Lyft both did not respond to emails asking when was the last time Camacho picked up riders for the companies. We're also still waiting the results of an autopsy.
