Military Man In Custody After Fatal Crash In Gloucester County
DEPTFORD, N.J. (CBS) - One man is dead and two are injured after a two-vehicle crash took place in Gloucester County Saturday morning.
Steven Kennedy, 29, of Runnemede was traveling southbound on Route 41 at about 2:38 a.m. when his Nissan sedan was struck by a Ford pickup truck traveling northbound, police say. The incident occurred at the Hurffville Road and Clements Bridge Road intersection.
The driver of the Ford, Rene Berben, 26, was intoxicated when his vehicle turned left and struck Kennedy's car, according to authorities. Investigators found an open container of beer in his vehicle.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene. Two of his passengers, Elisha Bailey, 52, and Dwayne Pettit, 28, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, police say.
Berben is charged with one count of vehicular homicide and two counts of assault by auto. Berben was also taken to Cooper University Hospital with unknown injuries. Authorities say that due to his affiliation with the U.S. Army, military police were contacted to take custody of him.
