Michael Vick Says 2012 Eagles Are 'Locked In'
By Ed Benkin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Michael Vick says there is a positive atmosphere around Lehigh University for Eagles training camp. Vick is looking forward to the arrival of the rest of the squad on Wednesday, and believes the team will be ready for a demanding camp.
"Everybody is locked in," said Vick. "We expect nothing but the best from one another. We're gonna push each other and work hard and it's not going to be easy. This training camp is going to be very grueling. At the same time, we're going to enjoy it and make the most of it."
Andy Reid stated earlier in camp that there will be plenty of competition for jobs. Rookie defensive back Brandon Boykin is expected to challenge Joselio Hanson for time at the third cornerback spot, and the rookie is expected to have the opportunity to compete for playing time.
"It's a great advantage," said Boykin. It really motivates me knowing I can come in and contribute. As a rookie, you really don't know what to expect, so form them to have that confidence in me to allow me to compete for a job right away, it shows they expect good things out of me."
Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo faced plenty of pressure in his first year as defensive coordinator last season, but Castillo says he has already put 2011 in the rear-view mirror.
"This is 2012," said Castillo. "We're talking about this year. We're talking about our older guys coming in on Wednesday. It's exciting."
