Mexican Day Of The Dead Celebrates The Lives Of Those Who Have Passed

PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--Today is the Mexican Day of the Dead.
There are celebrations taking place all over the world including here in Philadelphia.
Happy looking skeletons of all shapes and sizes are positioned all over the place.
Music, dance, storytelling, skeleton mask making and sugar skull creations are part of the celebration at the Penn museum.
Cecilia Humphrey, executive director for the Mexican Cultural Center in Philadelphia helped to organize the event.
"The Day of the Dead is actually a celebration. It's called La celebración del Día de Muertos, we celebrate, but we are not actually celebrating the dead person being dead, but we are celebrating the life of the person. We teach our children, our community we share with the people around us who the person who left was and by doing that we bring them back to life."
All are invited to bring a picture or a memento of a loved one who passed to be placed on the community altar to honor them.
