Messages Of Salvation And Hope For The Homeless In Philadelphia This Easter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The homeless advocacy organization, Project HOME, held its own Easter service at its headquarters on Fairmount Avenue in Philadelphia on Sunday.
The themes of salvation and resurrection resonate with Project HOME residents. They've born their own crosses - mental illness, addiction, poverty - and found new life in the Project H.O.M.E. community.
"It's a community of love." Julia has lived at Project HOME for eight years.
"I feel like I have come a long way. I feel renewed and every year that I've lived here, I've had nothing but loving experiences."
Project HOME co-founder Joan McKinnon brings her whole family to the service which, she says, crystallizes the work she does year round.
"It's daily resurrections here at Project HOME, that really what it is about so this is such a great day because it allows us the time to just reflect on that."
The service was offered by a Catholic priest but attracted residents and volunteers of many faiths.
