Message On Bathroom Wall Prompts Lockdown, Evacuation At High School In Northampton County
EASTON, Pa., (CBS) -- A message that was scribbled on a lavatory wall prompted a lockdown, followed by an evacuation at the Easton Area High School Wednesday morning.
Students at the Easton Area High School experienced a lockdown followed by an evacuation at 10:50 a.m., Interim Superintendent John F. Reinhart said in a statement on the Easton Area School District's website.
The evacuation ended at 11:08 a.m. with students returning to the building.
Following the evacuation, district administrators met to discuss the potential responses to address such interruptions in the instructional schedule," Reinhart said in the statement. he said time could be taken from scheduled vacations or tacked on to the end of the school year.
Anyone found guilty of causing such interruptions will be expelled from the high school, Reinhart said.
The adults are also considering the closure of certain lavatories throughout the building and additional security personnel may also be utilized during the school day, he said.
Reinhart said students at the high school with any knowledge of anyone who may have perpetrated these events for evacuation are encouraged to present this information to a responsible adult as soon as possible.
