Men's Basketball: Wildcats Drop, Owls Out Of New AP Poll
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As they prepare to battle Notre Dame in another critical Big East match-up, the Villanova Wildcats have dropped four spots in the new AP Top 25 men's basketball poll.
The Wildcats' losses to Syracuse and St. John's have pushed the Wildcats down to 19th in the country, after being 15th the week before. Jay Wright's squad is 21-8 on the season and 9-7 in the Big East.
Meanwhile, Temple University is no longer ranked. The Owls were 24th a week ago, but a loss to then-number-one Duke knocked Temple out of the poll. The Owls are 22-6, and they will visit UMass on Wednesday.
In other AP Poll moves, Duke is no longer #1 -- the Blue Devils fall to #4 after a loss to Virginia Tech. Ohio State has reclaimed the top spot. The Buckeyes, 27-2, earned 45 of 65 first place votes this week.
