Memorial Plaque Unveiled For Pa. Trooper Killed on Duty, Renewing Family's Ire

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- A memorial plaque for Pennsylvania state police trooper David Kedra was dedicated today as part of an annual ceremony at the law enforcement monument outside the Montgomery County Courthouse.
Kedra was accidentally shot and killed during a training exercise last fall.

Trooper David Kedra's name today became the 28th inscribed on the monument to all police officers in Montgomery County who died or were killed while on duty.
Kedra was shot and killed on September 30th during firearms training. The instructor of the class, state police corporal Richard Schroeter, is charged with reckless endangerment in Kendra's death.

Kedra's older brother, Kevin, today said his family is still upset because they feel more serious charges should have been brought against Schroeter.
"To have it right here on the steps of the Montgomery County Courthouse, where we had to meet with the district attorney, who basically tried to ask our family to sweep this under the rug because she didn't want this to become a big thing, I think it's insulting," Kevin Kedra said today.
Montgomery County district attorney Risa Ferman declined to get into specifics on charges, saying only that today's ceremony honors Kedra and the 27 other law enforcement officers who gave their lives. She did say her heart goes out Kedra's family.
