Memorial Fund Established In Name Of Fallen Fire Captain Michael Goodwin
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A memorial fund has been established for the family of a Philadelphia firefighter killed in a blaze earlier this month.
The city's firefighters union is announcing Wednesday the creation of the fund to help benefit the family of Capt. Michael Goodwin. The 53-year-old veteran died April 6 in a roof collapse while battling a fire in a three-story building in the city's Queen Village section. (See Related Story)
The city's chapter of the International Association of Firefighters is creating the fund. The chapter's president, Bill Gault, says there are many difficult days ahead for the Goodwin family, both emotionally and financially.
Goodwin is survived by his wife, two grown children and three siblings.
