Mealey's Furniture Opens Fifth Showroom In Devon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – At a time when many retailers are struggling to stay afloat, a local, family-owned operation that's been around for more than four decades is expanding into the western suburbs.
Mealey's Furniture opened its fifth area showroom Saturday; this one in Devon and it's bringing about thirty new jobs to the Chester County area.
Mealey's president Ed Darcy says their business is at the heart of the economy's growth and recovery and he believes the company can thrive in the demographics of this new market.
"We feel that on the operations side we're very tight; we play things pretty close to the vest as far as expansion. We're not going to commit to expansion until we think we're ready internally and can handle and expansion."
Saturday's grand opening is also a fundraiser where the company gets a chance to give back to the community. A portion of the day's sales will be donated to the American Red Cross for hurricane relief.
