McCoy Traded: Cataldi, Eskin Host 94WIP Morning Show Together
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Angelo Cataldi was supposed to go to Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday with his co-hosts Rhea Hughes and Al Morganti, for the 94WIP Morning Show's annual trip to Phillies Spring Training.
Howard Eskin was supposed to fill-in for Cataldi on Wednesday morning.
But things happened.
On Tuesday night, after the Eagles had already announced the release of cornerback Cary Williams earlier in the day, more news began to circulate. First, it was reported the Eagles would part ways with Trent Cole and Brandon Graham. Then, at 6:33 p.m., star running back LeSean McCoy was reportedly traded for Bills linebacker Kiko Alonso. And all of this was unraveling while Chip Kelly was set to speak publicly for the first time in two months.
Cataldi couldn't leave Philadelphia, so he came to work. Well, so did Eskin. Morganti and Hughes (Hughes, after co-hosting the first hour of the show) went to Florida.
"Let's be honest about this, you believe that LeSean McCoy was done," Eskin said to Cataldi at the top of the 6:00 a.m. hour. "So you're in here to say, 'I told you so!' So tell me I'm wrong."

"The voice you're hearing is the legendary Howard Eskin and the words he just said are entirely accurate," Cataldi admitted. "Actually, when they did it, I went 'I can't believe I got that one right.' Maybe I'm right about Mariota too? Rhea, how do I know I'm not on a wild run here?"
And just like that, Cataldi and Eskin---the two most legendary radio voices in Philadelphia---were sharing a studio (Hollis Thomas was co-hosting as well) and reacting to a historic Eagles trade on SportsRadio 94WIP, together.
Radio history was made.
"LeSean McCoy is one of the greatest running backs the Eagles have ever had," Cataldi said, explaining his decision to not go to Florida. "Trent Cole is the second greatest pass rusher they've ever had. They're both gone in the same day, with Cary Williams, DeMeco Ryans' got one foot out the door as well, Brandon Graham's probably not coming back, and Chip Kelly is a mad scientist!"

"This may be one of the few times that I actually do the same thing you did," Eskin told Cataldi.
As for the Eagles trading their biggest star?
"Here's my immediate reaction, I wasn't shocked," Eskin admitted.

"No, me either," Cataldi agreed. "No, because you knew he was a big cap hit and you knew Chip didn't love him. Chip didn't love him! He was another guy who didn't, in the locker room, had his moments."
"If he wasn't making that kind of money, I don't know Chip would have been as easy to have done that," Eskin said. "McCoy has got two or three years left."
