McCord Endorsed By The Philadelphia Inquirer

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Rob McCord has picked up an endorsement from Pennsylvania's largest newspaper.

In a Sunday editorial, The Philadelphia Inquirer called McCord "the best in a fine field" of Democrats seeking the party's nomination against Republican Governor Tom Corbett.

The newspaper says McCord, the state treasurer, has experience in government, politics, business and finance. It says his campaign's emphasis on robust education funding and the taxation of the natural-gas industry shows he understands what's important and achievable.

It also says McCord's willingness to oppose Corbett's efforts to privatize the state lottery shows his independence.

The Inquirer lays out its case for not endorsing businessman Tom Wolf, U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and former state environmental protection chief Katie McGinty.

It calls McCord "the candidate most likely to match words with deeds."
