Mayor Nutter Unveils Gifts To Be Given To Pope

By Ian Bush

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - They are gifts fit for Francis: that's what Mayor Nutter hopes as he shows off what the city is giving the Pope this weekend.

Wishing for some padded vestments to take the edge off those cobblestones on St. Peter's Square can be a thing of the past:

"Wide tires absorb road bumps, and a comfortable saddle makes the ride enjoyable," Nutter said while unveiling a Breezer Bike. "To celebrate Pope Francis' advocacy for environmentally responsible modes of transit."

Custom made with a "Papal white frame" for the Pope by Philadelphia's Advanced Sports International:

"The chain guard takes the shape of an angel's wing," added Nutter.

Even a famished Francis wouldn't snack from this bowl — ivory bone china bordered in 24 karat gold, created by Lenox in Bristol, Bucks County:

"Independence Hall, the home of the Declaration of Independence, and St. Peter's Basilica, home of the Holy See, are illustrated on each side to symbolize the unification of our two great cities," Nutter says.

Nutter calls them "gifts of practicality and elegance for a humble and inspiring leader."
