Mayor Nutter Irked That Phillies Aren't Getting Prime TV Time

Mayor Nutter says the Phillies are getting short shrift because tonight's game has a 5:07 PM start time. He says the team deserves prime time and he is "irritated."

Nutter says the Major League Baseball commissioner's office seems to be favoring the Yankees, whose game starts later:

"I do understand that they're the current World Series champion. But they're also the wildcard team in the American League. The Philadelphia Phillies have the best record in the major leagues, and it seems to me that they should be on in prime time so that the rest of the country can see the best team in baseball."

But Nutter says he has no plans to call Commissioner Bud Selig:

"I don't know if he personally picks the start times for the teams. But it is, quite frankly, just irritating that the best team in baseball gets billed when it does, as opposed to some other prime time spot."

The mayor's box tickets for tonight's game are going to 18 students from West Philadelphia High School who built two hybrid cars and submitted them to a national competition.
