Mayor Nutter Delivers Philadelphia Budget On Thursday
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Mayor Nutter delivers his new budget to City Council this Thursday and it is expected to be a relatively pain-free spending plan. Problem is, that could easily change later this spring.
With tax revenues finally stabilizing after a couple of difficult years, Mayor Nutter's new budget is not expected to include any major service cuts, nor any major tax increases.
However, Rob Dubow, his Finance Director, says bad news later from Harrisburg or Washington could change that.
"We do, however, have some major threats out there, with the state budget and the federal budget and what's happening with the school district. We call that the triple threat," Dubow said.
The city's massive Department of Human Services is most threatened by state and federal cuts. The extent of the impact of that 'triple threat' won't be known for weeks or months after Nutter unveils the budget Thursday.
