Mayor-Elect Kenney Gets Cooking At Reading Terminal Market
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A series of food demonstrations are taking place this holiday season at the Reading Terminal Market in Center City where popular Philadelphia chefs and well-known Philadelphians are stirring up some good eats for the crowd.
This weekend it was chef Bill Beck of Beck's Cajun Cafe's turn -- showing those gathered how to make a holiday-themed dinner of turkey, sausage and Oyster Gumbo.
His celebrity assistant was mayor-elect Jim Kenney.
"I don't think I'm a master chef, of course, like Mr. Beck here," Kenney said, "but I enjoy being around the kitchen. It's kind of therapy. When you do what I do all the time sometimes when you get in there and get your hands dirty and cutting up food and cooking food its good therapy for you."
The crowd got to sample the gumbo, a classic pecan pie and non-alcoholic hot apple ginger toddy.
