Marriage Equality Supporters Rally Outside Philadelphia's Federal Building

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A few dozen marriage equality supporters gathered in front of the Federal Building at 7th and Market Streets in Philadelphia on Monday evening for a rally ahead of the Supreme Court taking up the issue Tuesday and Wednesday.
Braving the cold rain, supporters chanted and cheered with each speaker who made arguments that this is about basic rights --- rights that State Representative Brian Sims says should already be guaranteed to each American.
"These rights are ours in this country by birth and by law, and what we are asking is that they are finally recognized," Sims explained.
Jay Lassiter, a blogger from Cherry Hill and a member of Garden State Equality, says that regardless of the Supreme Court's decision, he's confident that one day, things will be equal.
"Getting through the AIDs crisis is what propelled us to this point so quickly, within a generation. So, come what may, whatever comes out of D.C., we'll stand together and we'll be politically more powerful because of that solidarity," Lassiter said.
