Marlton Couple Sentenced For Operating Phony Vacation Travel Club
By David Madden
PHILADELPHIA (CBS)--A Marlton couple is paying the price for operating a bogus vacation travel club.
Forty-two-year old Daryl Turner is going to prison for seven years, and his 44-year-old wife Robyn Bernstein will do five years probation after the pair admitted to bilking customers to the tune of $2.6 million dollars.
Acting New Jersey Attorney General John Hoffman says the couple lured people with travel packages too good to be true.
"They would promise them 65 percent off condo fees, 50 percent off golf, 75 percent off resort fees. And even the company that they dealt with to fulfill on that didn't do any of that."
Plans are to make restitution to victims through the couple's bank accounts and the sale of items they had purchased over the years, including a mansion in Marlton, a speedboat and several luxury cars.
