Marketing To Recent Grads Paying Off For Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- An effort to keep college students in town after graduation is apparently paying off.
Nonprofit marketing organization Campus Philly has been working hard to convince college students from out of town that Philadelphia is such a great place, they should stay here after graduation.
Campus Philly president Deborah Diamond says the message is getting through.
"We have seen a dramatic increase in students who come from outside Philadelphia to go to school here and stay after graduation," Diamond told KYW Newsradio on Tuesday. "It used to be 29 percent of our non-native college students stayed after graduation; in this report, 48 percent stayed after they graduated."
She says the group introduces students to the local arts, restaurants, and entertainment activities, because keeping educated people in town is important to keep a city growing and competing.
