Marines Drop In Some Christmas Help For Superstorm Sandy Victims

By John Ostapkovich

FORT DIX, NJ (CBS) - Help of a different sort is on the way to areas pummeled by Superstorm Sandy and, in a way, it's the Marines riding to the rescue.

An enormous hangar at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst echoed with Christmas music awaiting arrival of the Marines flying a Blue Angels cargo plane filled by Toys for Tots.

Lt. Gen. Pete Osman, President of the Toys for Tots Foundation says, "We're delighted that we can help New Jersey to recover."

Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno recalled how hurtful it was in her house when they lost Christmas ornaments, and held out hope for those who have lost much more.

"This time of year, we need a little happiness. We people to know that there is hope, that we will rebuild, that tomorrow will be better than today and that's what the C-130 behind me represents."

Hasbro donated the toys on the plane which joined those on trucks for delivery to kids who really could use a smile.
