Marijuana Use Probed in 2011 G.S. Parkway Crash That Killed 4 Teens

LINWOOD, N.J. (CBS) -- Little more than a year ago, a one-vehicle accident on the Garden State Parkway left four members of the Mainland Regional High School football team dead (see related story).
Now comes word that three of them, including the driver, tested positive for marijuana use.
New Jersey state police released toxicology results through a record request made by the Press of Atlantic City.
There is some debate about whether marijuana contributed to the accident in that crowded SUV, but school district superintendent Tom Baruffi insists that marijuana use is a problem prevalent through society.
"These are issues that we as a high school deal with every day, knowing that kids are making poor choices, getting involved in things that they shouldn't be involved in, no matter how much we educate them," he said today.
That education process is ramping up with the start of another school year, and Baruffi says the program to caution kids won't change. In the meantime, there is some talk in the community about instituting a drug testing program for students.
