Many Gather In Center City To Celebrate St. Patrick's Day
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The green beer was flowing since this morning in many Irish pubs in Center City on this Saint Patrick's Day.
One place has been pouring the shamrock colored suds for 156 years.
The green beer is popular at McGillin's Olde Ale House, so is the lamb stew and Shepherd's pie.
"Everybody is Irish today. You just got to drink up and have a good time."
"I take off from work every St. Patty's Day. I love it. I love the history. I love my heritage."
Most were decked out in green. Some leprechaun wannabes, and even saint Patrick were milling about.
One man even had tiny shiny green shamrocks woven is his beard.
Many were raising their glasses and saying Sláinte, which translates to health in several Gaelic languages, and is used as a drinking toast in Ireland.
