PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many people went to Christmas mass, exchanged gifts and spent some time with family members on Christmas Day. Some folks who were looking for a change of pace for a while went to the River Rink along Penn's Landing in Philadelphia.
Ice skating has been a Christmas Day activity for Helena and members of her family for many years.
"We are home with our parents and we do the traditional opening of the presents and spend time with the family, then we go out with my aunt and go ice skating," she said.
Eleven-year-old Dante has been ice skating at the River Rink for a couple of Christmas' now.
"You can only play with your gift for so long," he said. "I guess it's a tradition now to come here."
That's also the case for Lisa, who laces up and takes to the ice every Christmas Day with her nieces and nephews.
"You're never too old to skate," she said.
Aunt Lisa says they work up an appetite, then head to a relative's house where everyone makes something for their holiday meal.
