Many Attend Funeral Services For Murdered New Jersey Girl
By David Madden, Todd Quinones
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Autumn Pasquale, the 12-year-old Clayton girl found murdered this week, was laid to rest amidst hundreds, if not thousands of family, friends and neighbors Saturday. This as a pair of teenaged neighbor boys stand accused of killing her for her bicycle.
Grey skies over Our Lady of Lourdes church reflected the mood of hundreds who surrounded the building just to pay their respects. This is a chance to not just help Autumn's family but a town of some 8,000 thousand people heal.
John Mitchell lived in Clayton for 40 years before moving to Pittsgrove Township.
"I grew up in a neighborhood in Philadelphia and Clayton's one big neighborhood. When things happen, we come together. We help each other. We support each other and we actually love each other."
Donna Stiles worked with Autumn's dad at the Postal Service.
"I'm a mom. So I can't imagine losing a child. No parent should ever bury their kid."
The quest for justice for Autumn is for another day. Now, people need to remember, grieve and try to move on.
