Man Struck, Killed By SEPTA Bus In Center City

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 59-year-old man died after being struck by a SEPTA bus in Center City early Friday morning.
The incident happened shortly after 6 a.m. at 22nd and Chestnut Streets.
According to investigators, a Route 42 SEPTA bus was traveling eastbound on Chestnut Street when it struck the 59-year-old victim.
The unidentified man was temporarily pinned under the bus, and had to be removed by emergency crews.
The man was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
SEPTA officials say seven passengers were aboard the bus at the time. They were not injured, and they boarded another Route 42 which took them to their destination.
The incident remains under investigation.
