Man Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities have released the name of the man who was struck and killed while leaning over a train platform at a New Jersey station, splattering four others with parts of his body.
NJ Transit spokesman John Durso Jr. says witnesses reported 50-year-old Frank Farriella of Middlesex was leaning in the path of the oncoming train at the New Brunswick station platform when he was struck Tuesday. About 300 people were aboard the New York-bound Northeast Corridor train.
Durso says one person on the platform sustained fractured ribs. Another complained of back, head and neck injuries and a third complained of head pain. A fourth person declined medical treatment.
Northeast Corridor service was temporarily suspended following the accident.
