Man Shot At 17 Times, Killed In Kingsessing
By Jan Carabeo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police say a man was shot at 17 times and killed overnight in the Kingsessing section of Philadelphia.
This happened around midnight on the 1400 block of South Paxon Street.
Police say after responding to calls of numerous shots being fired, they found a 51-year-old man -- shot in the face and body -- lying unconsciousness in the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say they believe they are looking for two suspects who fled the scene on foot. No other information about the suspects has been released at this time.
At this point, the motive is unclear, although police may have a lead.
"We also found what appears to be the victim's wallet laying just feet from the victim's body," says Chief Inspector Scott Small. "So there's a possibility this shooting and homicide is robbery-related. It's unusual to find the victim's wallet, on the sidewalk, next to his body."
Police are hoping surveillance video will lead them to their suspects as the fatal shooting remains under investigation.
