Man Shot, Robbed Outside West Philly Gas Station
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot outside a gas station near the Philadelphia Zoo late Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened at about 11:15 p.m. in the parking lot of a Sunoco gas station on Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia.
According to investigators, the 42-year-old victim had just finished filling up his car with gas when he thought he heard a disturbance inside the store.
As he approached the store, an unknown man came up from behind and shot the victim in the head and back. Police say the suspect then went through the victim's pockets and stole his cell phone.
The victim was rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
The suspect apparently fled the scene in a green minivan. Police believe robbery was the motive.
