Man Shot In Norristown, Police Search For Gunman
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Police are searching for a gunman who shot a man, rammed a police cruiser and led officers on a chase in Norristown overnight.
The incident began shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday along the 100 block of Schuylkill Avenue.
Police say officers responding to a 911 call for shots fired were arriving on scene when their police cruiser was struck by a black Volkswagen Passat.
Witnesses tell police that the suspect driver struck two other cars before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot into the woods.
The victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in unknown condition.
The suspect's car was found in nearby parking lot.
There were no injuries to police during the pursuit of the suspect.
