Man Shot For His Cell Phone In South Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 24-year-old man was shot in South Philadelphia Wednesday morning after police say he refused to hand over his cell phone to a thief.
It happened in the 1600 block of South 7th Street at about 5:30 a.m.
According to investigators, the victim was returning home from work when he was confronted by the suspect. The suspect demanded the victim's cell phone, but the victim initially refused to hand over his phone.
Authorities say the suspect then shot the victim twice in the arm before taking the victim's phone and running away on foot.
The victim was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The gunman remains at large.
