Man Shocked After Climbing Utility Pole In North Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Amtrak officials say trains were brought to a standstill by a man who was shocked after climbing up a utility pole near tracks in North Philadelphia Tuesday evening.
The incident began shortly before 6 p.m. at W. Glenwood Ave and W. Tusculum Street.
According to authorities, the unidentified man apparently climbed the pole in an attempt to cut the wires.
The man was shocked and a ladder truck had to be brought in to get him down. He was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.
Amtrak and Septa service was stopped between Philadelphia and Trenton for two hours while the man was stuck.
Amtrak spokesman Cliff Cole says all trains were back on schedule as of 8:30 p.m.
The incident remains under investigation.
