Man Sentenced In Fatal Atlantic City Carjacking
MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) — A southern New Jersey man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for his role in a fatal Atlantic City casino garage carjacking.
Eric Darden will have to serve 30 years before becoming eligible for parole under the sentence imposed Friday. The 21-year-old Camden resident had pleaded guilty last December to felony murder.
Atlantic County prosecutors say Darden and two other men from Camden robbed 28-year-old Sunil Rattu and 24-year-old Radha Ghetia in September 2011. The Middlesex County couple was forced to drive from the Trump Taj Mahal parking garage to an alley, where they both were shot.
Rattu died from two gunshot wounds to the head, while Ghetia survived.
Trials are pending for the remaining two defendants, who are both considering plea offers.
