PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man was rushed to the hospital after being pistol-whipped during a home invasion in a Philadelphia neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. inside a home in the 300 block of Ripka Street in the city's Roxborough section.
According to investigators, three to four armed men wearing masks entered the home. Police say five people were inside the home – a husband, wife and their three boys; ranging in age from late teens to early 20's.
Police say the husband and wife were pulled from their bed by the suspects and were ordered to search for money inside the home.
During the incident, the husband was pistol-whipped in the head.
After taking a cell phone and a wallet, the suspects then ran out of the home.
The male victim was taken to Roxborough Memorial Hospital for a cut to his head and was later released. No one else was injured.
So far, no arrests have been made.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects may have entered through an unlocked front door.
A search warrant was executed inside the home to process the crime scene and to recover possible evidence. Detectives were seen carrying out several bags from inside the home.
The investigation into the home invasion is ongoing.
