LITTLE SILVER, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Transit says a man was struck and killed by a train in central New Jersey.
The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, just west of the Little Silver station. The name of the man killed was not released, pending notification of relatives, and it was not clear why he was on the tracks.
No passengers or NJ Transit staff aboard the New York-bound North Jersey Coast Line train were hurt in the accident, but service on the line was temporarily suspended between Red Bank and Long Branch.
Substitute bus service was provided to transport customers while the investigation was ongoing.
