Man Killed After Being Shot, Crashing Car In Fairmount Park
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) -- An overnight shooting in the Fairmount Park section of Philadelphia has left one man dead.
Police say it was just after 2 a.m. Saturday when they found a 30-year-old man in a car that had run off the road and crashed into a tree at 33rd and Girard Avenue.
Fire crews worked for several minutes to cut the driver free from the vehicle, and he was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital.
Police says emergency room doctors found a gunshot wound in the neck of the victim, who was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Investigators also found several bullet holes in the victim's badly damaged car. They believe the gunfire occurred elsewhere and are trying to find the shooting scene.
