MT. LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) – Four people have been arrested in connection to the brutal beating and stabbing of a cab driver in Burlington County early Monday morning.
The attack happened at about 3 a.m. on Forrest Court in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey.
Authorities say 20-year-old Joseph Dominguez, a cab driver from Camden's Five Star Cab Company, was beaten and stabbed by four suspects who police have identified as 18-year-old Breanna Pimienta, 21-year-old Miguel Mercado, 21-year-old Mahadi Robinson and a 17-year-old man.
The investigation revealed that the suspects were at Pimienta and Mercado's residence early Monday morning when they arranged to have a taxi-cab pick them up at a nearby pharmacy. Police say when Dominguez arrived, they instructed him to take them to Mount Laurel. Upon arriving at the Forrest Court development, Robinson put the driver in a choke hold and the attack began.
After being stabbed, Dominguez got out of the cab and ran down the block to a home and knocked on door and rang doorbell for help. He was still bleeding from being slashed in the throat.
Another suspect jumped behind the wheel and crashed the cab into a tree.
He was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
The suspects have been charged with attempted murder, robbery and carjacking.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Mount Laurel Police and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office.
