Man Faces Trial In Pennsylvania For 9th DUI Arrest
TYRONE, Pa. (AP) -- A man has been jailed in central Pennsylvania after being ordered to stand trial on his ninth drunken-driving arrest, because prosecutors say the man has seven aliases—with seven different birth dates—and two Social Security numbers that he's used after his arrests in several other states.
The public defender for 28-year-old Yevgeniy Yefraimov, of Tyrone, says he'll have to review prosecutors' claims, but didn't immediately challenge information about his client's record.
Yefraimov waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday on a charge of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the state's legal limit on Thursday.
Blair County prosecutors persuaded a district judge in Tyrone to jail Yefraimov because of his arrest record in at least 10 states and prolific use of aliases.
Yefraimov remained jailed Wednesday, unable to post $35,000 bond.
