PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -A shooting at a popular restaurant at the Piazza at Schmidt's has claimed the life of a man from Upper Darby.
According to investigators, the victim and the shooter were sitting at separate tables on the patio of the restaurant P.Y.T. at the Piazza at Schmidt's. It's unclear what sparked an argument that police say ended when 25-year-old Maurice Kimbal from Upper Darby was shot on the sidewalk outside the restaurant.
"From the information we've gathered so far, the defender and the victim, along with some other people, were inside the restaurant at some point, made their way outside, and that's where the shooting occurred, somewhere outside the restaurant," said Philadelphia Police Captain Frank Palumbo.
Kimbal was pronounced dead around 2:30 Monday morning. Police say they're reviewing surveillance video from inside the bar to see what happened inside before the shooting. They say the man they believe to be the shooter was last seen leaving the area with a man and two women.
A resident here, Kelly, was walking her dog when she heard the shots, "And then some screaming. I think I heard three, but I'm not sure. It was very scary. This is a nice area, you don't want to see that around here."
