Man Claims To Have Pipe Bomb, Robs Port Richmond Bank
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating a bank robbery in the Port Richmond section of the city.
Police say the robbery occurred around 3:53 p.m. at the Washington Savings Bank at 2548 E Lehigh Avenue.
A male reportedly entered the bank carry a large pipe wrapped in black electrical tape that he claimed was a pipe bomb.
That man allegedly stole an unknown amount of money from the bank before fleeing westbound on Lehigh Avenue and then northbound on Belgrade Street on foot.
No injuries were reported.
