PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Police have charged a man they say intentionally struck an off-duty Philadelphia police officer who was riding his bicycle around midnight last night.

The crash happened on the 6800 block of Musgrave Street in East Mount Airy. The officer, identified as 32-year-old Marc Brady of Mt. Airy, died of extensive injuries at Albert Einstein Medical Center.

The investigation revealed Officer Brady, and eight-year veteran of the department, was on his way to his ex-girlfriend's home when he ran into the woman's current boyfriend, Kareem Alleyne. According to police, Alleyne intentionally struck the officer, then stopped a short distance away and waited for police to arrive.

Alleyne was taken in for questioning and subsequently arrested and charged with Homicide by Vehicle and Involuntary Manslaughter.
