Man Caught Red Handed Stealing From Church Donation Box
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS)—Gloucester Township Police arrested a man after he was caught stealing from a church donation box.
Tuesday evening, a staff member at Our Lady of Hope Church on Little Gloucester Road observed a male acting suspiciously inside of the chapel. She then heard banging coming from the area and immediately called police.
Upon arrival, an officer observed Kenneth Heil counting money and placing it in his pants pocket.
The officer then noticed the Church's donation box was damaged and detained Heil.
The officer found Heil was carrying a flashlight and metal wires that were consistent with the damaged metal on the donation box.
Police also found $29.00 in small bills stuffed into his front pocket.
Heil was transported to the Gloucester Township Police Department and charged with theft and possession of burglary tools.
He was remanded to a correctional facility in lieu of bail and an active warrant out of Burlington County.
