Man Handcuffed To Fridge, Beaten, Robbed During Home Invasion
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching two men they say beat, robbed and handcuffed a man to his refrigerator inside his Northeast Philadelphia apartment.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the Revere Court Apartments in the 7200 block of Revere Street in Mayfair.
Police say two men approached the 28-year-old victim as he sat in front of his apartment and demanded his wallet and cell phone at gunpoint. Unhappy with what they got, authorities say the men then forced their way into his apartment where they handcuffed the man to the refrigerator and repeatedly pistol-whipped him.
Investigators say the suspects took off after stealing a television, a sound bar and a stab proof vest and gloves that the victim uses for his job in security.
The victim called police after he was able to free himself by unscrewing the refrigerator handle.
He was taken to Aria Torresdale Hospital, where he was treated for injuries to his face.
Police say there were no witnesses or surveillance footage.
