Man Arrested After Making Threats Towards Obama In Olney
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A man was taken into custody after using a loud speaker to make threats towards President Obama and people of Jewish descent in North Philadelphia Monday evening.
The bizarre incident played out at about 6 p.m. in the 5500 block of N. 5th Street in the city's Olney section.
According to investigators, a 46-year-old male used a loud speaker to make threats towards President Obama and people of Jewish descent from a second floor apartment.
Investigators say they found several suspicious suitcases and bottles that were filled with an unknown clear liquid inside the residence. It was later determined that the bottles were filled with water and the suitcases only contained clothing.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said extra patrols following Osama Bin Laden's death are precautionary.
"You can call it high alert, you can call it special alert, it doesn't matter what you call it, it's above what it is … that's for sure," Ramsey said.
The male was taken into custody and later released after being charged with Summary Disorderly conduct. No charges will be filed by the Secret Service for threats against the President.
