Man Accused Of Shooting Mother Of 6 Found Not Guilty
By Tony Hanson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 24-year-old Philadelphia man has been acquitted of murdering a mother of 6 just a day before Mother's day in 2011.
KYW's Tony Hanson reports the shooting apparently resulted from an earlier fight between girls in their Southwest Philadelphia neighborhood.
There were several eyewitnesses who testified that defendant Isaac Porterfield fired in the drive by-shooting that killed 39-year-old Yvette Saunders in front of her house.
But defense attorney Anthony Voci challenged their credibility and accuracy and pointed to another shooter.
"My defense was there was another individual in the car at the time the shooting occurred. He was alleged to be the front seat passenger, and it was our defense that he was the shooter in this case, and not my client who was the driver of the car," Voci explains.
And Voci says that other person, who has been identified, disappeared early on. He could not be found by police and the murder weapon was never found.
Again, the jury found Isaac Porterfield, NOT guilty.
